Antibody-based proteomics provides a powerful approach for the functional study of the human proteome involving the systematic generation of protein-specific affinity reagents.
Highly multiplexed immunoassays could allow convenient screening of hundreds or thousands of protein biomarkers simultaneously in a clinical sample such as serum or plasma, potentially allowing improved diagnostic accuracy and clinical management of many conditions such as autoimmune disorders, infections , and several cancers.
The aim of these studies is to determine the protein parts that are present in such samples and to define their concentrations, molecular states, structures, functions or connections. At the interface between bioimaging, proteomics and artificial intelligence are fundamental aspects of human cell biology systematically assessed at a single cell level using an antibody-based approach. The department is located at two separate campuses, AlbaNova and SciLifeLab. The seven divisions are active in a large spectra of protein related research, both fundamental and applied.
